Kristen Johnson

Kristen Johnson, our guest speaker, was a very eccentric, hyper, creative and interesting person. She wore colorful orange clothes, walked up and down the isles and did some very weird things that you wouldn't expect to see in a classroom. She came up and had a conversation with a few students and got to know them; she sat down with them or near them in a chair or on the ground and asked them how they are doing and asked what they liked. She showed us a short 8-minute clip of a blimp that was put up to monitor and spy over Afganistan. The video was very well made with any amazing angles, shots, and had a great dialogue of one of the locals talking about God. The video then cuts to a VERY similar balloon in Maryland that was said to detect missiles but it was most likely doing the same thing in Maryland as it was doing in Afganistan. Avatar The Last Airbender: Final Agni Kai

In this scene, Zuko has to fight his sister Azula in an Agni Kai, a fire battle. I pick this scene because it was one of the greatest fight scenes of all time from my childhood. It has amazing animation, editing , and story behind it. It starts with a close up of Azula shotting a blue fireball at Zuko and to follow the action it shows Zuko attacking as well.  As soon as they start fighting, we can hear the somber music start playing in the background over their battle. The creators picked somber music over action music because this is supposed to be a fight to the death, but it's a fight between two siblings. One sibling that has rebelled against his family because he knew what they were doing was wrong and another sibling who is so desperate to get approval from her father that she loses her own sanity in the process.  This one cut is following the 180-degree rule. Soundwalk in an Airport

I work in an airport and I spend my entire time, I have to walk around the terminal and speak to people a lot. There are a few parts in my day where I don't talk to anyone and just stand around listening and observing people and the terminal itself. I decided to record my soundwalk at this time. The airport terminal is large, tall, and is most of the time filled with hundreds, sometimes even thousands, of people. It's very echoey so anytime someone has a conversation from one end of the terminal, if it's mostly empty, you will faintly hear their voices. Every 30 minutes or so there is an announcement that plays and says to not leave bags unattended at any time, all checked items are subject to search, and even not to get a ride from someone you don't know. As I stand there observing everything and everyone I hear children crying and yelling, TSA agents LOUDLY instructing people to have their IDs' and boarding passes ready to for them, people on lines complaining abo...

Artist Statement

                                                               ARTIST STATEMENT I love movies, shows, animation, games, and basically anything that has to do with entertainment.  I like to watch good movies and shows and hopefully end up feeling for the characters and the whole plot in general. I commend movies and shows that make the audience feel emotions like anger, excitement, joy, sadness, and even fear because it is very difficult to have the viewer forget that they are watching a movie or show, and have them feel like they are right next to the characters feeling what they are feeling or experiencing what they are experiencing.  Whenever I watch a new show and I am conscious of the fact that I am watching it, it ruins it for me because having that illusion of being in the movie/show with the other characters is...
